An attorney with Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil’s legal team read a statement from his wife after his court appearance: “I demand his immediate release and return to our family.”

Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist who possesses a green card, was arrested by ICE and is currently being held in Louisiana.
