Haemophilia is a rare disorder where bleeding lasts longer than normal. This is due to Haemophilia patients do not have enough clotting factor in their blood. Clotting factor is a protein in blood that controls bleeding. About 1 in 10,000 people are born with Haemophilia across the world. Only 25% of worldwide Haemophilia patients receive adequate treatment. This disorder is usually inherited through a parent’s genes. The founder of the World Federation of Haemophilia Frank Schnabel was born on April 17 and hence, World Haemophilia Day is observed on April 17.
