Effective Home Remedies For Sinus Headache
Many people suffer from headaches and, in general, they are not a sign of a serious or life-threatening illness.
But they can be very painful, and the best way to treat a headache often depends on what is causing it.
Sinus problems can cause headaches, which can be serious.
They are mainly due to the accumulation of pressure in your sinuses when the mucous membranes are inflamed and do not secrete mucus properly.
This type of inflammation can occur due to a sinus infection, allergies, an infection in an upper tooth or, in rare cases, a tumor (benign or malignant).
During a sinus headache, you may feel pressure and tenderness behind the forehead, cheeks or around the eyes.
The pain can be mild to severe, as well as unilateral (on the one hand) or bilateral (on both sides).
Dry air and paranasal sinuses can increase sinus pressure and cause headaches and palpitations.
Steam adds moisture to the air, helps to moisten the sinus passages and thin mucus that may have thickened over time.
Take a hot shower and inhale the steam to reduce the pressure. You can also use a humidifier to get more long-term relief.
For an extra boost, add eucalyptus oil to your bath to speed up your recovery. Eucalyptus contains cineol,
an ingredient known to accelerate the healing of acute sinusitis. The oil can also help reduce nasal congestion and clear your way.
I never use a cold cloth for a headache without adding a good foot bath. You will need a small tub or basin for this.
We have found that inexpensive cat trays are a perfect size. Fill the container with very warm water. It should be as hot as possible.
Add a handful of the herbs you have available. I especially like hops (Humulus lupulus),
but you can try some lavender (Lavendula Angustifolia) or even some basil (Ocimum basilicum) outside your spice cupboard.
For any type of a headache, staying hydrated is essential to reduce pain.
When you suffer from a sinus headache, be sure to drink plenty of fluids.
This can help dilute mucus from the breasts to facilitate drainage. Once the body removes mucus, the headache will quickly disappear.
Drinking enough fluid will also help with general hydration. To know if your body is hydrated, check the color of your urine.
The colorless urine is an indication of adequate hydration.
Along with water, drinking hot liquids will help. Enjoy a hot cup of herbal tea or drink broth to dilute the mucus.
Even hot soups and lemonades can help clear up mucus.
