A cheap pill that you take once a day could cut your risk of heart attacks by more than half. The “polypill” contains four different drugs, including blood-thinning aspirin and a cholesterol-lowering statin. Researchers in the UK and Iran tested the polypill on 7,000 people. It has been shown to be effective among people with no history of cardiovascular disease, reducing the number of severe events by 40%. It was half as effective for those with a history of heart problems and strokes.
