A bionic limb that promises to “merge man with machine” has allowed amputees to “feel” their robotic leg for the first time.

Djurica Resanovic, a volunteer in a study led by European researchers, lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, leaving him with an amputation above the knee.

But clinical trials conducted by a European consortium including Swiss research institutions ETH Zurich and SensArs Neuroprosthetics, as well as researchers in Belgrade, Serbia, have allowed Resanovic to walk again.
