Best Ways To Get Rid Of Popping Ears & Prevention Tips
It’s been a few hours since your plan landed but still, your ears feel like they are popping. We’ve all felt it.
The middle ear and the back of your nose are connected with Eustachian tube and air pressure between them is usually the same. Any Pressure difference between middle and outside of the eardrums cause your ears to pop.
Your ears might also be popping and crackling due to earwax, medications, loud noise and microbial infection. There are several home remedies that can help to treat and even prevent this condition.
#1
Yawning
If you are feeling mild discomfort due to popping ears than try yawning. Yawning will instantly relieve popping ears. If you are not sleepy than try a fake yawn by stretching your mouth. By doing this you are opening and closing the eustachian tube and balancing the air pressure in the middle ear and outside the body. Repeat this several times until you notice an improvement.

#2
Swallowing
Swallowing really does work. Like yawning swallowing also open up the eustachian tube and equalize the pressure inside your ears with the outside world. So what are you waiting for grab your favorite snack and start eating! But don’t forget to swallow.

#3
A heating pad or warm washcloth
Another way to open the eustachian tube is to apply heat by using a heating pad or warm washcloth. Heat will open the tube and release any pressure build up. Soak a washcloth in a hot water. With mild pressure put the warm washcloth on the ear and leave it on for few minutes. Repeat this 2 to 3 times.

#4
Nasal Spray
Due to cold or flu, your nasal passage can be congested with excess fluid and swollen tissues and blood vessels and cause your ears to pop. The nasal spray can reduce the inflammation and helps to get rid of additional mucus in your ears and nose. Make some saline water using clean water. Using neti pot irrigate your nostrils. Repeat if needed.

#5
Try the Valsalva maneuver
Valsalva maneuver is a breathing technique that will target the back of your nose and equalize any pressure imbalance. Pinch your nose and suck in your cheeks and then gently try to blow the air out. Hold this position for 8 to 10 seconds and then release. Be careful and don’t blow too hard as it can damage your eardrum.

#6
Try the Toynbee Maneuver
Like Valsalva maneuver, Toynbee also balances out air pressure in your ears. Pinch your nose and drink a cup of water. This technique will help open up the eustachian tube and cure popping sensations by equalizing the air pressure in middle ears.
