Victorian health authorities warn of flesh-eating ulcer

The state’s deputy chief health officer, Dr Brett  Sutton, says hotspots for the skin infection caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium ulcerans include the Bellarine and Mornington peninsulas. Mosquitos and possums may be behind the spread of the disease, prompting Sutton to advise people to avoid mosquito bites, to wear long-sleeved clothes and keep an eye on cuts and scratches
